My First Post

Sandgate & Southern

This is a blog about my HO freelance layout, please bear with me while I learn this technology under the guidance of my mate Jim. The Sandgate & Southern is a railroad that bridges mainly western US railroads with some foreign eastern railroads.

I have locos and equipment from the following Road Names: SF; SP; GN; CB&Q; UP; MP; TP &W; NYC; & C&O covering the Steam Diesel transition period to 1990's  covering both freight and passenger operations.

Steam Locos include the following configurations: 0-6-0; 2-6-0; 4-8-4; to 4-8-8-4. Diesel Locos include: Boxcabs through to modern produced by Alco, EMD & GE

The industries on the layout encompass grain silos, a coal mine, flour mill, cement works, timber (logs & sawn), a powerhouse and packinghouses which will result in freight movements covering: grain; timber; livestock; coal and general freight.

Passenger movements will include the use of Doodlebugs, RDC's, Streamliner's and Heavyweights.

FYI the listeners of "Model Rail Radio" Pam's "normal" gauge (N gauge) layout is above me at ground level while I'm in the basement with my Horrendously Oversize (HO gauge) layout!

It is intended that operations on the Sandgate & Southern extend to operations on the Hallett Cove Southern

Any comments will be welcome
